What was your experience prior to joining Albany Beck?

I started off my career at Deutsche Bank whilst on placement during my 3rd year at Maynooth University. Some friends from my course went abroad on an Erasmus placement, but I wanted to get a headstart on my career and gain experience that way. The experience I gained during my internship year definitely helped me to secure my first job after I graduated from university. I started at AIB on the Retail & Commercial Banking Graduate programme. I had a couple of different rotations there, and I particularly enjoyed my time in the Market Engagement team within Business Banking.

Tell us about your journey so far at Albany Beck?

My journey at Albany Beck has definitely been a unique one! I joined in December 2019 as a Senior Consultant and was deployed into the Transaction Management team at RBC Investor & Treasury Services. The pandemic was a crazy time for everyone, and being trained up on new systems was challenging. I got to see Albany Beck’s unique internalisation model first hand, as a lot of my peers went permanent with RBC some 18 months later. I wanted to get into more of a customer-facing role, so I moved into tech sales with DocuSign and now I’m back with Albany Beck as a Senior Account Manager.

What’s involved in your position as Senior Account Manager?

My role as a Senior Account Manager involves a lot of banging on doors, so to speak! I’m constantly trying to help my clients to build out their teams and maximise efficiency, whether that’s for short- or long-term project work. I was on-site for Albany Beck in RBC, and they remain one of my staple clients to date. It’s great to be able to help some of my friends and ex-colleagues there. Building strong relationships with key stakeholders within these clients is certainly the key to building trust. As I’ve now moved into a more senior position, I’m on hand to support some of the other members of the sales organisation with training and mentoring.

What do you enjoy the most about working for Albany Beck?

It’s probably a bit clichéd but it’s got to be the people! As with any company, there are hierarchical structures in place, but everyone in Head Office is so approachable, and they’re all happy to lend a hand to get us to where we want to be. It was a fantastic achievement for the Irish team to win two awards at the IDA Ireland gala earlier this year – a compliment to the great people we have both on-site with our clients and in Head Office. Some of the financial benefits of working here are great too, notably the flexible benefit scheme with matched pension contribution, and gym contributions.
